Ron Moore

ORLANDO, FL — Ron Moore, 74, passed away peacefully at AdventHealth Orlando Hospice Sept. 17, 2020, following a lengthy battle with intestinal issues. A private family service will be held at a later date with internment at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota, with military honors.

Ronald Flynn Moore was born March 13, 1946, in Hawthorne, California, to Loma and Violet (Hirsch) Moore. He attended school in Rapid City, South Dakota, graduating from Rapid City High School in 1963. Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corp following graduation. He attained the rank Sergeant, serving two tours in Vietnam.

Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Rapid City and attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. On April 22, 1972, Ron was united in marriage with Jeanette Hurley. To this union were born Steven and Laura. He was very proud of his three grandchildren, Maddie, Andy and Isaac, and would brag of their accomplishments.

After working several jobs while in college, he began at Northwest Pipe Fittings in Rapid City. In June 1976, he transferred to Marshall Northwest Pipe Fittings in Marshall, becoming president/manager. Ron served in that capacity until his retirement in June 2008. Since that time Ron and Jeanette have been snowbirds living the last 10 years in Bowling Green, Florida.

Ron had many interests but playing duplicate bridge (attained life master in 1975) and golfing were two of his favorite pastimes, in addition to being a proud Marine. He also loved happy hours with all of his Torrey Oaks friends where the stories would flow.

Ron is survived by his wife, Jeanette; son, Steven (Robbin) of Shakopee; grandchildren, Madeline Andrew and Isaac all of Shakopee; brother, Bruce (Cassie) of Vancouver, WA; newly discovered siblings, Dean Millett (Sharon) of Forks WA; Susan Massick (Mark), Pueblo CO; and Patty Rogers Stover of Rapid City, SD; aunt, Irene Hirsh Stone of Rapid City, SD and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura; mother, Violet Moore; father, Loma Moore; stepmother, Betty Moore and brother, Jerald Moore.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Marshall Public Schools Pride in the Tiger Foundation for the Laura Moore Memorial Scholarship.
