Robert Avery

June 15, 1941-Sept. 7, 2020

Robert (Bob) Avery, 79, passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at his home in Gold Canyon, AZ with his wife Sandy at his side after a short battle with lung cancer.

Bob was born to Clara (Rafnson) Avery of Minneota, and Glenroy Avery of Marshall, June 15, 1941, in Minneota.

Bob enjoyed baseball, bowling and handball, but had a life-long love for hunting and fishing, especially Muskies.

Bob was a diesel mechanic in the Chicago area for over 30 years. He then moved to Minnesota where he purchased Ted’s Bar in Ghent. He later added a kitchen, turning it into a successful dining spot in the area.

Bob married Sandy (Jelen) Sik on Dec. 2, 1995, and later moved to Alexandria, where Bob got his Building Contractor license and spent the rest of his years building and remodeling homes in MN and AZ. Bob and Sandy loved AZ and had been living there for the past 5 years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sandy, brother Daryll (Pat) Avery and son Mike of Lisle, IL, son Bob Jr (Katie) of Bessemer, MI, stepson Brad Sik (Sheila) of Springfield, SD, Todd Sik of Canby, 6 step grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father Glenroy Avery, niece Michelle Avery, mother Clara (Rafnson) DeRoode, grandparents, several aunts uncles and cousins.

He will be deeply missed.
