Betty Frahm

A private immediate family ceremony for Betty Frahm will be Saturday followed by an open but socially-distanced burial service at 2:45 p.m. in the Lynd cemetery (1926 220th St., Lynd).

Betty died of natural causes on Wednesday, May 19th, just five days shy of her 91st birthday, in a long-term care facility overlooking Cedar Lake in Minneapolis where she spent her last couple years close to her family and to nature.

Betty Lou Miller was born May 24, 1929, on the family farm outside of Cottonwood. She was the second daughter and eighth child of Herbert and Bessie Miller.

Betty married Hugo Frahm on Sept. 19, 1950. They took their first vacation together to the North Shore of Lake Superior and began a life-long journey of roadtrips, campfires, fishing on lakes, canoeing, nurturing their own land, and enjoying their large extended families together. They raised two daughters, Linda and Mary.

Betty briefly worked part-time outside the home, but devoted her life to nurturing her family and taking care of their property outside of Marshall. Well into her 80s she was most often found outside gardening, feeding the birds, or mowing acres of their lawn. She and Hugo hosted annual family campouts on their land for 45 years. She instilled her love of nature in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed a good beer, country music, and a little mischief once in awhile too.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 61 years, Hugo Frahm (2011), and their beloved daughters, Linda Stoddard (2014) and Mary Frahm (2009). She is also preceded by her sister Jo and all six of her brothers: Russ, Bernie, Glenn (Red), Howard, Harlan, and Chet.

Love and enduring adoration was shared between Betty and her closest surviving relatives — sister Peggy Henrikson, granddaughters Brenda (Stoddard) Martinson (Wade) and Shari (Stoddard) Johnson (Todd), and her great-grandchildren Macy Martinson, Stella Johnson, and Teddy Johnson, who called her “GG.”
