Larry Bot

MARSHALL — Due to guidelines provided by professionals from the CDC during the COVID-19 virus, a private service for immediate family of Larry Bot will be held at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will take place at St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent.

Larry died Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at the Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Lawrence Duane “Larry” Bot was born Dec. 10, 1952, in Marshall, to Fred and Lillian (Thorsteinson) Bot. He grew up on a farm near Ivanhoe and graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1971. Larry attended and graduated from Diesel Technician Program at the Canby Vocational Technical School in 1974. He began working for Midway Farm Equipment in Mountain Lake and later became part owner. Larry worked there until his retirement. While living in Mountain Lake, Larry worked as an EMT on the Mountain Lake Ambulance squad for many years. He enjoyed weight lifting, running and riding bike. Larry had a good mind for mechanics and was always there to help if someone was in need. Larry fought a courageous battle against cancer for seven years.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert (and Florie) Bot of Manila, Philippines, Gerald Bot of Ivanhoe; sisters, Nancy (and David) Meier of Marshall, Rebecca (and Tim) Wilkinson of Pearl, TX; four nieces and nephews and close friends, Darlene Quiring and Jeff Quiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lillian Bot; a brother who died at birth; brother, David and nephew, Boone Wilkinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the City of Mountain Lake Ambulance, P.O. Box C, Mountain Lake, MN 56159.

And now, Larry is living out his favorite saying, “I’m in the high cotton..”
