Esther Suhler

MARSHALL — Esther Margaret Suhler, 101, of Salina, Kansas, formerly of Lyons, passed away Dec. 24, 2019, at Pinnacle Park, Salina. She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Marshall, the daughter of Edwin and Mathilda Weidauer Wild. Esther was a Lyons resident since 1937; formerly Marshall.

She owned and operated Washateria, Suhlers Coin-op, Suhlers Roll Arena, and Quivira Café. Esther was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons, life member of VFW Auxiliary, Lyons, life member of American Vets #11, Hutchinson, KS, and American Legion Auxiliary, Lyons. On Sept. 26, 1937, Esther was united in marriage with Marvin J. Suhler in Lyons. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1968.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Edwin Suhler and Bill Wild; brother, Floyd Wild; and sisters, Caroline Dwire and Alma Dwire. Esther is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Baldwin of Salina; half-sisters, Betty Pyle of Temple City, CA, Roxanna Seymour of Forrest Grove, OR, and Phyllis Schmidt of Osakis, MN; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Pastor Lori Persigehl officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons or Interim Health Care (Hospice) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.

George Skorczewski

HENDRICKS — Mass of Christian Burial for George Skorczewski, 91, of Hendricks will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno with a 1 p.m. Rosary and a 3 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery with military honors. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel of Hendricks is entrusted with the arrangements

He died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019 in Marshall.

Phyllis Leuning

HENDRICKS — Services for Phyllis Leuning, 87, Hendricks, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Hendricks Hospital Chapel with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Hendricks City Cemetery. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Hendricks is entrusted with the arrangements. She died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, at the Hendricks Nursing Home.
