Richard Vermeire

BAYTOWN, Texas — Celebration of life services for Richard T. Vermeire, 78, of Baytown, Texas, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 800 W. Baker Rd. Baytown, Texas 77521. Burial will be at a later date in Wayside, Texas.

Richard passed away Oct. 14, 2019, in Baytown, Texas.

Richard was born July 16, 1941, in Taunton to Francis and Mary Vermeire. He married Traverne Gillham on Feb. 20, 1961, in Canyon, Texas. He worked as a welder for Brown and Root for many years. He was very involved in his church and as member of the Knights of Columbus in Baytown, Texas.

Richard Vermeire is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Traverne Gillham Vermeire; daughters Marcus Ann Haynes of Kenai Alaska, Tanya Rene’e Vemeire of Texas, and Ami Rachel Vermeire of Baytown, Texas; two grandchildren Richard Zane Kintz of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Eksona Nicole Vermeire of Baytown, Texas; siblings Donald (and Dory) Vermeire, Marlene (and Willford) Hoffman, and Dennis Vermeire, all of Minnesota; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Richard Vermeire is preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents; his Father Francis Vermeire; mother Mary Vermeire Schmitt and his stepfather John Schmitt; two sisters Mary Ann DeBare and Elaine Waltz; many aunts, uncles and cousins; mother- and father-in-law Doris and Travis Gillham, his one son-in-law David Lee Haynes, sisters-in-law Nelda Jo and Fay Hand, Beth and Carlton Harry; and nephew Jim Hand.

Memorials may be given to the Knights of Columbus local chapter.
