Theresa Hansen

TRACY — Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa Hansen, 99, of Tracy, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a CCW rosary at 4 p.m. and prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Life Remembrance Center in Tracy. Visitation will continue Monday one hour prior to the service at the church in Currie. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Currie.

She died Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Sanford Tracy Medical Center in Tracy.

Theresa Hansen was born to Thomas and Catherine (Bangasser) Silver in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on Aug. 12, 1919. Theresa was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she made her First Communion, was confirmed and married. She was past-president and secretary of St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society and taught Catechism for five years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. On Oct. 17, 1940, she was married to Edward Hansen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Tracy until 1957, when the moved to Mankato, where Eddie drove for Greyhound. While there, Theresa worked as a receptionist at Bretts Beauty Shop for 16 years. The couple moved back to Tracy in 1977 when Eddie retired. Since that time, the couple wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for 35 years.

Theresa is survived by her son Dennis (and Mary) Hansen of Belle Plaine, daughter Geraldine Colby of Charlestown, R.I., grandson Christopher (and Carri) Hansen, granddaughter Jennifer (and Tim) Thomas, twin granddaughters Lori (and Ron) Llopis and Lisa Hansen, great-granddaughter Summer Llopis, sister-in-law Mildred Hansen and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters: Alice Jette, Lenore Gempler, Catherine Craig, Elizabeth Pelkey, Mary Jones and Dorothy Averill, and three brothers: Bernard, Thomas (twin) and Robert Silver, six brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law and son-in-law Arthur Colby.

Blessed Be Her Memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Compassionate Care Hospice of Worthington, or the Murray County Hospice House of Tracy.
