Conrad Doom

CANBY — Mass of Christian Burial for Conrad Doom, 56, of Canby, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, rural Canby. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby. Houseman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at his residence.

Conrad Doom was born Aug. 3, 1962, to Daniel and Rose (Lozinski) Doom in Tracy and was raised on a dairy farm near St. Leo. He graduated from Canby High School in 1980 and became a diesel mechanic. Conrad met the love of his life, Hope Lee, at a Yellow Medicine County Fair. On Aug. 27, 1994, he and Hope were married at their farm southwest of Canby. Conrad fulfilled his passion for trucks and tractors by starting his own businesses: Northside Implement and then in 1997, Conrad’s Truck and Tractor Repair. Conrad and Hope devoted their lives to the shop family and making the business successful. He collected Corvettes, IH tractors, cats, and loved spending time with his many nieces and nephews. Conrad was diagnosed with Lymphoma in February of 2014 and then Leukemia in July of 2016. He fought the diseases for nearly five years before passing away in his home, surrounded by his family at the age of 56.

He is survived by his wife, Hope Doom; mother, Rose Doom; siblings: Brenda (LeRoy) Full, Cheryl (Loren) Giese, Rhonda Doom-Weidert (Mark) and Brian Doom (Angie); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Doom; brother, Danny Jo Doom; and mother-in-law, Nancy Lee.
