LeRoy Conyers

Nov. 29, 1929-June 13, 2018

RICHFIELD — LeRoy Herbert Conyers passed away peacefully on June 13, 2018, at Bel-Rae Assisted Living in Mounds View. He was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Minneapolis where he grew up. After a stint in the Navy, he received a B. A. from Augsburg College, later earning a master’s of education from Kansas State Teacher’s College. Conyers spent his entire 37-year career teaching English at Marshall High School in Marshall. In addition to teaching, he was an operatically-trained vocalist, often singing for weddings, funerals and school assemblies, as well as soloing in several oratorio performances under the direction of Southwest State University choral conductors.

He is survived by his wife, Ellayne Velde-Conyers; daughters Cosette Conyers, Suzanne (Wayne) Dahlberg, Stefani Conyers (Steve Preus), Rebecca (Dave) Marks; grandchildren Nicolas Dahlberg, Anders Dahlberg, Caitlin (Eric) Knight, Mallory (Luke) Lauerhunt, Mari (Duccio) Mondanelli, Pearcy Marks, Conner Marks; great-granddaughter Marley Marks; brother, Dale Conyers; sisters Patricia Hall and Mary Vesel; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Viewal will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, followed by a Service of Remembrance at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel 6527 Portland Ave., S., Richfield, MN. Per LeRoy’s wishes, the family requests no flowers or memorials. Your presence in person or in prayer will be greatly appreciated.
