Cheryl Peterson

Feb. 27, 1949-May 31, 2018

BALATON — Services for Cheryl Peterson, 69, of Balaton, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will take place at a later date.

Cheryl died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Colonial Manor of Balaton.

Cheryl Ann (Skaug) Peterson was born Feb. 27, 1949, in Tyler to Clarence and Goldie (Pehrson) Skaug. She grew up in Balaton and graduated from Balaton High School. On Jan. 8, 1967, she was united in marriage to Carl Peterson. The couple made their home and raised their children in Balaton. Cheryl worked at a few jobs including at her Uncle Vic’s drive-in restaurant in Walnut Grove and as a para-professional at the Balaton School. Cheryl also worked doing activities with the residents at the Colonial Manor in Balaton including “Lets Go Fishing.” She was very passionate about Balaton and very involved with many functions including school carnivals, the craft show, Balaton Chamber of Commerce (Past Citizen of the Year), all school reunions and many more. She was a natural caregiver and took very good care of her family and friends. She enjoyed 3:30 p.m. coffee with friends at the Balaton Specialties and recently took up golfing. Cheryl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and participated with the Trinity Joy Bells.

Survivors include her husband, Carl; daughter Jody (and Bruce) Bauer, grandchildren Tyler and Sam, of Balaton, son Matthew (and Lynette) Peterson, grandchildren Alexis, Benjamin and Jacob of North Mankato; brother Dallas (and Carol) Skaug of St. Louis Park; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Goldie Skaug.
