MARSHALL — A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Paul VanDePutte, 59, of Marshall, will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Minneota. Visitation will take place one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial will take place at the St. Edwards Cemetery.

Joseph passed away on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.

Joseph Paul VanDePutte was born Nov. 3, 1958, to Edward and Mary (DeBaere) VanDePutte of Minneota. He was baptized at St. Edwards Catholic Church and attended grade school in Minneota. Joseph attended secondary school at Canby. Later in life Joseph moved to Marshall and lived in a group home and worked for Advance Opportunities.

Joseph liked to collect watches, read the paper and listening to music. He could be found watching the Minnesota Vikings on game day. Joseph was an avid weatherman and he enjoyed visiting with family on special occasions.

He is survived by his siblings: Marlene Arens of Woodstock, Thomas (and Connie) VanDePutte of Clarkfield, Robert (and Sandy) VanDePutte of Bremerton, Wash., and James VanDePutte of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Lois VanDePutte of Minneota; many nieces, nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mary VanDePutte; brother David VanDePutte; brother-in-law William Arens Sr.; nephew William Arens Jr.; and infant nieces Carrie Arens and Mary Ann VanDePutte.
