Forrest D. Wild
WILLMAR — A memorial mass and interment for Forrest D. Wild, 91, of Marshall, Willmar and Tucson, Ariz., will be at 11 a.m. April 21 in Willmar at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He died Jan. 4, 2018, after a long and prosperous life. Joan, his wife of 64 years, was by his side.
He and Joan raised their seven children in Willmar and he worked for MnDOT for 38 years. Much of his life was dedicated to serving others. Having been born and raised in Marshall, he then went on to serve his country in the Army and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. He volunteered for many organizations including the Kandiyohi Rescue Squad and Willmar Ambulance Service. He also served for the American Legion Post 167, and he was an instructor/trainer of CPR and First Aid for the American Red Cross as well as donating countless gallons of blood. He was active with St. Mary’s Catholic Church, serving on the Parish Council and School Board, Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was a proud member of the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus as a Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful Navigator. Upon retirement, he and his wife traveled throughout the country, spending nine winters in Arizona before moving to Tucson Estates and becoming permanent residents of Tucson. He continued to serve at the Tucson Veterans Hospital logging over 4,000 volunteer hours assisting patients and also working as a dispatcher.
Forrest is survived by his wife, Joan; seven children: Deanne, Paul (Brenda), Mary (Julie), Mark (Heather), Steven (Stacy), Barbara (Christine), Jeffrey (Anne), 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Linda (Steven).
He will be greatly missed by friends and family. The family thanks the Tucson VA hospital, Brookdale Tanque Verde and GeriNet Hospice.
