CHICAGO — Memorial services for Dennis Terry Sook, 72, of Chicago, Illinois, are being planned in Chicago. Graveside services for Dennis will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, Illinois. There will be no visitation. Family and friends should go directly to the cemetery.
He died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, after a brief illness.
Dennis was born April 29, 1945, in Marshall to Delbert Marvin Sook and Margaret (Goodmundson) Sook. He was united in marriage to Rachel Stephens Slagel.
Dennis was an actor, acting on stage, in commercials and television, and also was a playwright. His credits include “Long Day’s Journey into Night” with John Carradine, “A Thousand Clowns” with Doug McClure, “Broken Up” with Richard Egan, “Cactus Flower” with Anne Francis, “Good Bye Ghost” with Claude Akins, and “Send Me No Flowers” where he met his wife, Rachel Stephens Slagel. Dennis wrote the play, “The Food of Love,” and the play, “Womb of Time.” He also had been on stage with Van Johnson. He also did theatrical readings with The Shakespeare Project of Chicago. Dennis also served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Stephens Sook, of Chicago, Illinois; four sisters, Georgia Kerkaert and her husband, Camiel, of Alexandria, Marilyn Licari of Sitka, Alaska, Beverly Kucera of Bloomington and Donna Jorgensen of Edina; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carol Bohn, brothers Gordon Sook and Ronald “Doc” Sook, and two brothers in infancy.
