Curtis Labat

MARSHALL — Memorial services for Curtis Robert Labat will be a memorial in Marshall this summer. Curtis’s request is to be cremated and buried at sea.

He passed away unexpectedly in Phoenix, Ariz.

Curtis was born March 20, 1967, at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall to Donald and Phyllis (Berends) Labat. Curtis graduated from Marshall High School in 1985. He joined the Navy in the fall of 1985 and retired after 20 years of service. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, Guam and San Diego retiring in 2005.

After retirement he worked at Culver’s in Marshall before moving to Phoenix, Ariz. While in Phoenix he worked at part time jobs including Security and the Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns.

Curtis and Gina Hasch were married Jan. 12, 2013, in Las Vegas for a brief time.

Curtis is survived by his brother Jeff (Jessica) nephews Jonathon and Enrique of San Diego, Calif., and brother Scott (Kim) nieces Megan and Hannah of Crystal; many aunts, uncles, Gina Hasch and many other special friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Ted and Evelyn Berends and Henry and Rose Labat.
