Feb. 11, 1943-Aug. 19, 2015

LAKE BENTON – No public services will take place for David Alan Huhta (Huhtamaa), in accordance with his wishes.

He died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Divine Providence Health Center in Ivanhoe.

He was born Feb. 11, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan.

David was an avid reader, music enthusiast and ham radio operator. Although failing health kept him at home in recent years, he enjoyed weekly reminiscences with his brother Wayne. David shared a passion for life-long learning with his family and was always within reach of a coffee cup and a book. He found great comfort in the steadfast companionship of Shay, his loving wife of 51 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Anne “Shay”; his eldest daughter, Rebecca Suzanne Albright (and Ty Albright) of Arco, his son, Adam Spencer Huhta (and Melanie Huhta) of Plymouth and his youngest daughter, Sarah Huhta Corrigan (and David Corrigan) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Jessica Bekker (and Stefan Bekker), Mackenzy Albright (and Rachelle Bowen), Madelyn Huhta and Sadie Huhta, great-grandchildren Jethro Albright Anderson and Zoe Bekker, and his brother L. Wayne Huhta of Goshen, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Rudolph and Jessie May Huhta, and three siblings Warren Huhta, Ernest Cooper, and Violet Callan.

The family greatly appreciates the dedication and kindness of the staff at the Tyler Healthcare Center and the Divine Providence Nursing Home.
