Appreciate donation of books

Thank you to the Pride in the Tiger Foundation. Being a middle school student is hard work. There is always so much pressure to fit in and a strong desire to do what your peers are doing. No one wants to stand out as different. Thanks to a generous donation from the Pride in the Tiger Foundation, my students are able to read the same kinds of interesting books as their classmates. Catholic Daughters of Americas offering scholarship

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas local Court St. Joan of Arc No. 129 is offering $500 scholarship to a 2021 graduating Catholic girl who plans to continue her former education. She must be a member of Holy Redeemer parish or any of the adjacent Catholic parishes that do not have a Catholic Daughter Court. Applications are available at the Holy Redeemer Parish office or from Lois Novosad, 710 N. Sixth St., Marshall, MN 56258. Phone number is 507-532-5236. ‘Cultures on the Prairie’ Conference Feb. 23

MARSHALL — Cultures on the Prairie, a virtual conference highlighting the many cultures in the workplace, schools and communities of southwest Minnesota, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 23 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. A trio of panels will highlight the event, and will discuss diversity from the perspective of employers/workforce, students, and communities. CWD testing shows low prevalence of disease in areas tested

Testing results from Minnesota’s 2020 hunting season and early 2021 special hunts confirmed chronic wasting disease in 22 wild deer, all within current disease management zones, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. In total, 7,682 samples were tested from hunter-harvested deer or opportunistic samples (deer killed by vehicles, reported sick or found dead). Participate in setting deer population goals

Minnesotans interested in deer populations can help shape deer population goals in the southwestern and northeastern areas of the state during an open public input process. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources sets deer population goals — the desired increase or decrease in a deer population in a particular deer permit area — as part of the state’s wild deer management.
