Driver Education Classroom Openings: The next classroom session of Driver Education will be July 7 through July 26. The program will begin with a Parent/Teen session on Sunday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Marshall Middle School, and classroom sessions will be held Monday through Friday at the MERIT Center. Students must be age 14 before they begin the classroom. A completed contract (with both parent/guardian and student signatures) and the registration fee are required to hold a spot in the class. Registration is limited, so please sign up today. Please call Marshall Community Services at 537-6767 with questions.

Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Morning lessons will be July 8-18 (Monday through Thursday) at the Marshall Aquatic Center – outdoor pool. Levels 1-6 are offered at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Level 1 lessons will last 40 minutes. Level 2-6 lessons will last 50 minutes. Fee: $40 per person. Private swim lessons will be from 8:15-8:45 a.m. and 11-11:30 a.m. Fee $60 per person.

Youth Tiger Gymnastics Lessons will begin the week of July 8 in the Gymnastics Room at the Marshall High School. Session 3 will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Session 4 will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tiny Tuckers (ages 3-5) will meet from 8-8:30 a.m. Junior Tumblers (ages 5-12) will meet from 8:35-9:20 a.m. Hot Shots (ages 6-12) will meet from 9:25-10:10 a.m. Tiger Stars (ages 6-12) will meet from 10:15-11 a.m. Fee: $24 per person.

MCS Small Group Gymnastics Lessons – Session 3 will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays (July 8-24) in the Marshall High School Gymnastics Room. Ages 5-8 will meet from 4-4:30 p.m. OR 4:30-5 p.m. Ages 9-12 will meet from 5-5:30 p.m. OR 5:30-6 p.m. These small group lessons will enhance skill learning and lesson effectiveness using individual attention on each gymnast in a great learning environment. Fee: $60 per person.

MCS Small Group Gymnastics Lessons – Session 4 will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays (July 9-25) in the Marshall High School Gymnastics Room. Ages 5-8 will meet from 6:15-6:45 p.m. OR 6:45-7:15 p.m. Ages 9-12 will meet from 7:15-7:45 p.m. OR 7:45-8:15 p.m. These small group lessons will enhance skill learning and lesson effectiveness using individual attention on each gymnast in a great learning environment. Fee: $60 per person.

Little Legends Soccer will be held at Freedom Park from July 8 – July 25. Preschool will meet on Mondays/Wednesdays from 9-9:30 a.m. OR 9:35-10:05 a.m. Grades K-1 will meet on Mondays/Wednesdays from 10:10-10:55 a.m. OR 11-11:45 a.m. Grades 2-3 will meet on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 9-9:50 a.m. OR 10-10:50 a.m. Fee: $25 per person.

Beginning Horsemanship will be held on July 8-12 (Monday-Friday) at Meadow Creek Stable (2109 County Road 9 in Marshall). Ages 6-10 will meet from 9-10 a.m. Ages 11-15 will meet from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Participants will learn horse care which includes handling, grooming, feeding and even riding. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from class. Fee: $70 per person.

Fun Foods for Kids will be July 8-12 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School. Grades 1-4 will meet from 10:30 a.m.-noon and grades 5-8 will meet from 1-2:30 p.m. Learn how to create fun and healthy foods, including snacks. Fee: $35 per person – an additional $10 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Movie Story Magic – From Beginning to End will be July 8-12 (Monday-Friday) at Marshall High School. Grades 4-12 have two options to attend: 8:45-10:15 a.m. OR 10:30 a.m.-noon. Learn what it takes to take an idea and turn it into a movie. Fee: $40 per person.

Tot Time (for ages 3-5 years and potty trained) will be July 8 – 18 (Monday through Thursday) at Park Side School from 9-10:20 a.m. OR 10:40 a.m.-noon. Exciting indoor and outdoor activities planned include creative expression, group time, large motor and free choice. Fee: $30 per person.

Little Hitters Tennis Camp for boys and girls entering grades K-3 will be Tuesdays (July 9-23) from 10-10:50 a.m. at the MHS Tennis Courts. This program is designed to include fun movement, games and fitness activity for youth with little or no previous tennis experience. Fee: $20 per person.

Fun Basketball will meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from July 9-July 24 at Park Side School gym. Boys and girls entering Pre-school through 1st grade will meet from 8:30-9:15 a.m. Boys and girls entering grades 2-3 will meet from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Fee: $30 per person.

Youth Curling Camp for boys and girls in grades 4-12 will be Wednesdays (July 10-31) from 1–2:30 p.m. at the Red Baron Arena & Expo. Learn how to slide, “throw” a stone, rules and etiquette, sweeping, basic strategy and understand what all the “yelling” is about. Fee: $25 per person.

Foods Around the World will be held July 15-19 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School. Grades 1-4 will meet from 10:30 a.m.-noon, and grades 5-8 will meet from 1-2:30 p.m. Learn about and try your hand at preparing signature dishes from various places around the world. Fee: $35 per person – an additional $10 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Kamp Kid’s Kboodles! (for ages 3-5) will be July 15-July 18 (Monday through Thursday) at MMS ECFE area from 9-10:20 a.m. or 10:40 a.m.-noon. Children will interact with others in fun, engaging activities including large group story time and music, gross motor activities and free choice. Fee: $35 per person.

Junior Curator will be July 15-19 (Monday through Friday) from 1-3 p.m. at the Lyon County Museum. The Junior Curator program allows youth to take on the roles of museum staff to research, create and install a museum display. Fee: $40 per person.

Junk Drawer Robotics will be July 15-18 (Monday-Thursday) at the Marshall Middle School. Grades 5-8 will meet from 1:-2:30 p.m. Come learn how to build a basic robot arm that moves – with stuff out of your junk drawer at home. Fee: $35 per person.

Parent and Me Painting will be Tuesday, July 16 from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Marshall Middle School art room. This class is for children ages 0-4 with a parent to create a beautiful keepsake painting using acrylic paints Fee: $15 per canvas (parent and child share one canvas – each additional child/canvas is $15).

Pre-and Post-natal Yoga will be held on Tuesdays (July 16-Aug. 27 – no class August 6) from 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Adult Community Center. Learn breathing and relaxation while you strengthen the muscles that support your baby during pregnancy, birth and into the postpartum period. Fee: $50 per person.

Swimming Training Camp at the MAC will be July 22-Aug. 8 (Mondays through Thursdays) from 6:30am-8:30am at the Marshall Aquatic Center. This camp for boys and girls ages 12 and up is designed to help high school swimmers stay in shape before the high school swim season begins. Focus will be on general endurance, strength, and technique. Fee: $45 per person.

Golf Lessons will be July 22-26 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) at the Driving Range. Children ages 7-17 will meet from 3-3:50 p.m. or 4-4:50 p.m. Adults will meet from 5-6 p.m.. Participants will be instructed on grip, stance, posture, chipping, putting, full swing, etiquette and rules. Fee: $30 per person.

Wooden Villages will be July 22-26 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall Middle School. Grades 5-8 will meet from 10:30 a.m.-noon, and grades 1-4 will meet from 1-2:30 p.m. Participants will create entire miniature villages using wood, paint and other objects. Fee: $40 per person.

Sweet Treats will be July 22-26 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School. Grades 5-8 will meet from 10:30 a.m.-noon, and grades 2-4 will meet from 1-2:30 p.m. Learn to bake, decorate and create a different treat to take home to your family each day. Fee: $35 per person – an additional $10 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.
