Russell man charged with shooting deer from vehicle

MARSHALL — A Russell man is facing misdemeanor charges for allegedly shooting a deer from his vehicle last fall, Lyon County court records said. Shawn Andrew Peterson, 56, appeared by Zoom video in Lyon County District Court Wednesday, on charges of unlawful transportation of wild animals, discharging a firearm from a public highway, trespassing, and transporting a loaded firearm. Cottonwood man injured in Highway 212 crash

GLENCOE — A Cottonwood man was injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday on U.S. Highway 212 in McLeod County, the Minnesota State Patrol said. Dane Kenneth Meyer, 61, was taken to an Allina Health facility with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said. The crash was reported at 7:08 p.m. in Glencoe Township, the State Patrol said.
