RUTHTON — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash reported at 5:27 p.m. Thursday at Minnesota Highway 23 and 221st Street, the Minnesota State Patrol said. At the time of the crash, a 1994 Jeep Cherokee driven by Dennis Alvin Melcher, 72, of Balaton, was westbound on 221st Street and a 2011 Toyota Tundra driven by Mae Rose Petrehn, 37, of Brooten, Minn., was northbound on Highway 23. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, the State Patrol said. Petrehn received non life-threatening injuries in the crash, and was transported to Avera Tyler Medical Center, the State Patrol said. The Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office, the Ruthton Fire Department, Ruthton Ambulance and Ruthton First Responders all responded at the crash scene.

GRANITE FALLS — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash reported at 4:51 p.m. Thursday at Minnesota Highway 23 and Yellow Medicine County Road 17, the Minnesota State Patrol said. At the time of the crash, a 2020 Dodge van driven by Bradley Alan Sargent, 33, of McGregor, Minn., was westbound on County Road 17 and a 2006 International straight truck driven by Frank Dale White, 62, of Minneota, was southbound on Highway 23. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, the State Patrol said.

Sargent received non life-threatening injuries in the crash, and was transported to Avera Granite Falls Health Center, the State Patrol said.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, the Upper Sioux Police, and Granite Falls Ambulance all responded at the scene of the crash.
