Crash on Hwy. 59 injures 2

YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTY — A crash involving a semi and farm equipment injured two people on Tuesday, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office said.

At 11:34 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office got a call of a crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and 170th Avenue. A semi-tractor trailer had rear-ended a farm tractor towing a sprayer as it was making a left turn off of Highway 59, the Sheriff’s Office said. The driver of the semi, Steve Christenson of Bird Island, was extricated from the semi and transported from the scene by a North Air Care helicopter, the Sheriff’s Office said. A passenger in the semi, Darlene Christenson, was transported by ambulance to Avera Marshall Medical Center, the Sheriff’s Office said. The driver of the tractor, Jonah Dovre of Porter, was uninjured.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, and Cottonwood Fire and Ambulance all responded at the crash scene.
