Three injured in US Highway 59 crash

GARVIN — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 59 north of Garvin on Saturday night, the Minnesota State Patrol said. Two Tracy residents and a 16-year-old boy were transported to hospitals, the State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 8:11 p.m. Saturday. A 2019 Chevrolet Bolt driven by Alfred Miller Jessen, 90, of Tracy, was southbound on Highway 59. A northbound 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 16-year-old male lost control on the snowy road and slid sideways, hitting the Impala’s passenger side, the State Patrol said. Alfred Jessen and a passenger, 85-year-old Laverne Anna Jessen, were taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

The State Patrol report did not identify the driver of the Impala, or give the severity of his injuries. However, the teen was taken to the hospital, the State Patrol said.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Garvin First Responders, and Tracy Fire and Ambulance all responded at the crash scene.
