One injured in crash near Green Valley

COTTONWOOD — A Garfield woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon north of Green Valley, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 3 p.m. on Minnesota Highway 23, north of Lyon County Road 22. A 2004 Chevy Tracker driven by Alivia Dawn Simonson, 18, of Garfield, was traveling eastbound on Highway 23, when it slid off an icy roadway. The Chevy slid into the rear of a 2010 Kia Soul that was stopped on the eastbound shoulder of the highway, the State Patrol said. Simonson was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said. The driver of the Kia, Abisola Rukayat Adetimehin, 27, of Marshall, was uninjured.

Cottonwood Ambulance responded at the crash scene.
