New Ulm teen dies in crash

NEW ULM – New Ulm Police have identified the person who died in a pickup truck rollover on Monday, Oct. 28 in New Ulm.

According to a police press release, Jackson Bieraugel, 16, New Ulm, died in the accident, which occurred near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Airport Road about 3:06 p.m.

Police said Broden Johnson, 16,of New Ulm was driving a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup eastbound on Airport Road. Kevin Vo, also 16, of New Ulm was a passenger inside the vehicle. Bieraugel was a passenger in the rear bed of the pickup.

Johnson lost control of the pickup on the road’s gravel surface and the vehicle overturned, pinning Bieraugel beneath it. Bieraugel was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson and Vo were seat belted and report no injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the New Ulm Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol. The New Ulm Police Department was assisted by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Allina Medical Transportation and the New Ulm Fire Department.
