One injured in Highway 68 crash

LYON COUNTY — A Minneota woman was injured in a crash involving a car and a tractor Tuesday on Minnesota Highway 68, the Minnesota State Patrol said. A passenger in the car, Debra Strongman, 60, was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 8:36 p.m., in Eidsvold Township, Lyon County. A 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by Tamara Ruppert, 46, of Minneota, was eastbound on Highway 68 when it rear-ended a 1994 John Deere tractor driven by Leo Buysse, 22, of Ghent, the State Patrol said. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch, and the tractor rolled on its side, the State Patrol said.

A State Patrol report said alcohol was involved in the crash.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the Minneota Fire Department and North Memorial Ambulance all responded at the crash scene.
