Two injured in Highway 23 crash

YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTY — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash reported Tuesday morning on Minnesota Highway 23, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 8:06 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 23 and County Road 2, in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County. A 2010 Chevrolet driven by Joshua Schafer, 39, of Hanley Falls, and a 2016 Chevrolet driven by Justin Gylling, 41, of Tyler, collided at the intersection, the State Patrol said. Road conditions were snowy and icy at the time of the crash, the State Patrol reported.

Both Schafer and Gylling were taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

Cottonwood Ambulance, Cottonwood Fire and Rescue, and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office all responded at the scene of the crash.
