Serial burglary suspect arrested in Iowa

DAWSON — A suspect in a string of burglaries in southern Minnesota has been arrested, the Dawson Boyd Police Department said Thursday. Eric Todd Hall, 43, was arrested by the Guthrie County and Altoona Police Department in Iowa on Thursday morning, Dawson Boyd Police said.

Hall was suspected of committing a string of burglaries, including a break-in at Tim’s Food Pride in Dawson on Jan. 8, and at Red Rooster Foods in Winthrop on Jan. 5.

In a post on the department’s Facebook page, Dawson Boyd Police said they are currently coordinating with multiple agencies regarding their investigations.

On Jan. 8, the Porter Cafe and Grocery also had a break-in, and security camera footage showed a man with a beard and a hooded sweatshirt, similar to security photos from the Red Rooster Foods burglary. While cafe employees said nothing was stolen, the break-in did cause damage. The suspect also attempted to break into the Cut Loose Bar, next door to the cafe.

In a Facebook post, Dawson Boyd Police said the $135 was stolen in the Tim’s Food Pride burglary. Police said Hall was involved in more than 70 reported burglaries in small towns in Iowa and Minnesota.
