Big Catches

Harvey Syltie of Porter recorded a catch and release of this 10-pound, 23-inch walleye on Lake of the Woods on Jan. 3. Syltie said he goes fishing on Lake of the Woods a couple times a year and has caught bigger fish, but this was the largest walleye he has ever caught on the lake. In three days, Syltie said his group caught their limit each day of walleye and some sauger. “I know there have been bigger fish caught around here but it was a nice fish and most likely a female because of its girth,” Syltie said.
