GRANITE FALLS — Granite Falls Police are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man who was found unresponsive on a park bench Tuesday morning. Police said the man was found at the Veteran’s Memorial Plaza, in front of the Yellow Medicine County Courthouse, just before 9 a.m.

When police arrived on the scene, the man was found to be dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been lying on the bench for several hours, according to a release from the Granite Falls Police Department. Police identified the man as Randy William Cosgrove, 57, of Granite Falls.

Cosgrove was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, the release said. The incident is still under investigation.
