Courts for March 8

MARSHALL – Abirham Chane Tessema, 23, of Woodbury, appeared in Lyon County District Court March 4 on charges of refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving after revocation. A complaint alleges Tessema refused testing in Marshall on Oct. 6. A trial date was continued to May 5, and a pretrial hearing was continued to April 29.

MARSHALL – Joseph David Gabler, 31, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court March 4 to charges of predatory offender – failure to notify of address change, court records said. Gabler failed to notify law enforcement when his address changed in Marshall in June, court records said. A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered by the court, and a sentencing hearing was set for April 29.

MARSHALL – Wendell Buck Burnett, 20, of Marshall, pleaded innocent in Lyon County District Court March 4 to charges of theft. A complaint alleges Burnett aided in the theft of a television from a residence in Marshall on Jan. 7. A trial date was set for April 23, and a pretrial hearing was set for April 15.

MARSHALL – Kenneth Ray Christopher, 50, of Balaton, appeared in Lyon County District Court March 4 on two counts of second degree driving while impaired charges and charges of driving after revocation and falsely reporting a crime. A complaint alleges Christopher drove while impaired in Balaton on Aug. 24 and falsely claimed another person hit his vehicle. A hearing was set for March 18.

MARSHALL – Carol Ann Biren, 44, of Russell, pleaded innocent in Lyon County District Court March 4 to two counts of third degree driving while impaired charges. A complaint alleges Biren drove while impaired in Lyon County on July 3. A trial date was set for June 4, and a pretrial hearing was set for May 27.
