Zinke won’t seek reelection to US House
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A Republican lawmaker from Montana who served as interior secretary during President Donald Trump’s first administration says he will not seek reelection to a fifth term. Rep. Ryan Zinke cited health concerns in announcing his plans Monday. The decision gives Democrats an outside chance to pick up a House seat in a state that has veered hard to the right politically in recent years. Zinke is a former U.S. Navy SEAL. He says he’s undergone multiple surgeries in recent years for injuries dating to his military service. Republicans hold a narrow 218-214 majority in the House with three seats vacant ahead of the fall midterm elections.
