Jury selection begins in trial for ex-officer
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — A trial is underway in Texas for a former police officer who was part of the slow law enforcement response to the Uvalde school shooting in 2022. Former Uvalde schools officer Adrian Gonzales is charged with failing to protect children during the attack after authorities waited more than an hour to confront the gunman. Jury selection in the trial began Monday. Gonzales is one of two law enforcement officers charged in the attack that killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary. The officer’s attorney has said Gonzales tried to save children that day.
