Cardinals super fan known as Rally Runner pleads guilty to storming Capitol

WASHINGTON (AP) — A St. Louis Cardinals super fan who legally changed his name to Rally Runner has pleaded guilty to storming the U.S. Capitol while wearing red face paint and red clothes. Rally Runner pleaded guilty on Friday to a felony charge of civil disorder and is scheduled to be sentenced in July. The 44-year-old Missouri man was wearing red paint on his face and a red “Keep America Great” hat when he used a stolen shield to help other rioters attack police officers at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. He is known in St. Louis for running around the Cardinals’ stadium during baseball games while wearing red clothes and red face paint.

Cheating on your spouse is a crime in New York; law may finally be repealed

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Cheating on your spouse is illegal in New York, but the state might soon change that. A bill working its way through the New York Legislature could repeal a more than a century-old law that makes adultery a crime. The obscure law is actually on the books in many other states, though it is almost never enforced. Bill sponsor Assemblyman Charles Lavine says only about a dozen people have been charged under the state’s adultery law since 1972, and of those, just five cases have netted convictions. Adultery currently is a misdemeanor in New York punishable by up to 90 days in jail.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene files motion to oust Speaker Mike Johnson

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Mike Johnson is at risk of being ousted. Hard-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia filed a motion to vacate on Friday during a House vote on a $1.2 trillion package to keep government open. Greene says it’s a “warning” to the Louisiana lawmaker. It’s the same political dynamic that removed the last Republican speaker, Kevin McCarthy, months ago. McCarthy’s was the first such ouster of a speaker after far-right conservatives revolted over his compromise with Democrats to prevent a federal shutdown.

NEW YORK (AP) — More than 440,000 Starbucks-branded mugs made by Nestle and sold during the winter holidays are being recalled after reports of some users receiving burns or lacerations. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that the mugs, when microwaved or filled with extremely hot liquid, can overheat or break, posing burn and laceration hazards. The mugs were sold nationwide both in store and online at places like Target and Walmart from November through January for about $10, $13 or $20 depending on the gift set, according to the agency.
