Officials release hours of more video in fatal police beating of Tyre Nichols

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The city of Memphis Tennessee has released hours of more video in the case of five former police officers charged with the violent beating and death of Tyre Nichols. Police video released weeks after the killing showed the beating.

Some lawmakers in both parties are criticizing state Superintendent Ryan Walters’ agency for approving the bonuses in error. State Rep. Mark McBride says lawmakers are working to increase scrutiny of the bonus process and teachers shouldn’t be forced to pay for mistakes the agency made.

Illinois is among several states where Trump critics have pushed to remove him from the ballot for violating a constitutional ban on office-holders who “engaged in insurrection.”
