Sheriff: Defiant NYC bar owner struck deputy with his car
NEW YORK (AP) — The co-owner of a New York City bar that authorities said has been defying coronavirus restrictions was taken into custody early Sunday after running over a deputy with a car, authorities said.
Danny Presti tried to drive away from his bar, Mac’s Public House, as deputies were arresting him for serving patrons in violation of city and state closure orders, Sheriff Joseph Fucito said.
Average US price of gas up 4 cents a gallon to $2.22
CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — The average U.S. price of regular-grade gasoline rose 4 cents a gallon over the past two weeks to $2.22.
Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey said Sunday that a rise in crude oil prices spurred the increase. She says demand for gasoline remains low in the United States due to the coronavirus pandemic. The price at the pump is 43 cents less than it was a year ago.
Officials: Texas man possibly killed by mountain lion
LIPAN, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a 28-year-old man found dead in a wooded area in rural Texas was killed by a wild animal, possibly a mountain lion.
The Hood County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that deputies found Christopher Allen Whiteley’s body on Thursday, a day after he went missing near Lipan, located 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
Double Dragons: SpaceX launches space station supplies
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — SpaceX launched a newer, bigger version of its Dragon supply ship to the International Space Station on Sunday, marking the first time the company has two capsules in orbit at the same time.
The Dragon — packed with Christmas treats and presents — should reach the space station on Monday, joining the Dragon that delivered four astronauts last month.
