Plane crash injures 2 near Brainerd

BRAINERD (AP) — A small plane crashed at a private grass airstrip near Brainerd on Wednesday, injuring two people on board, authorities said.

Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard said the crash was reported to his office shortly after 11 a.m. After deputies and the Brainerd Fire Department arrived, it was learned the plane was coming in for a landing when too much brake was applied, causing the plane to nose dive at a slow rate of speed, Goddard said.

The pilot had a laceration on the forehead and was taken by ambulance to an emergency room. The co-pilot suffered minor cuts and scratches.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
