Death of rapper attributed to fentanyl, alcohol

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The death of a rising Twin Cities rapper was the result of an overdose of fentanyl and alcohol, according to a medical examiner’s report.

Lexii Alijai was found unconscious and possibly suffering cardiac arrest at the Loews Minneapolis Hotel on New Year’s Day.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office announced the autopsy findings Monday evening, saying the 21-year-old, whose given name is Alexis Alijai Lynch, died “due to mixed fentanyl and ethanol toxicity.”

By the time Alijai was 18 she had already amassed 20,000 Instagram followers, more than 100,000 SoundCloud streams and an appearance on a Grammy-nominated album, according to the Star Tribune.
