Why am I running for a school board seat?
I want to be part of a positive team to contribute to the success of our school. I am proud of the fact that we can continue to have a school in our town. As someone said “It is a hidden Gem”
Our teacher to student ratio is One of the pluses.
What are the major issues facing the District?
There are financial issues like so many other schools. The board needs to lead with clarity and transparency. I envision a community collaboration between the school board, administration, educators, and community members. Communication is the key.
What are the areas of concern regarding student achievement in the district?
There are celebrations with our youngest students literacy scores. We continue to hold steady in reading. As with a lot of schools, we work on our math scores.
How do you measure a student’s achievement? If students and parents feel welcome and heard, that leads to positive results .
Do you have specific suggestions for improvement?
Over the past few months, I have seen improvements at school board meetings and believe there will be more in the future. I believe that there are some grants out there that teachers can apply for that would enrich a student’s learning. I would encourage them. I do not have any other specific suggestions other than the one I mentioned. reinstated here:
