Personal (please list occupation, education and family):

I am running for Tracy City Council with a strong love for the community that I have called home for 47 years and with a desire to help it continue to thrive!  Out of the 47 years, I have spent 27 years dedicated to serving on Tracy City Council.  Recently retired, I am a graduate of South Dakota State University where I earned a degree in Health and Physical Education along with a coaching certificate. My husband Frank and I have been married for 30 years. I am blessed with 3 children and 9 grandchildren. I cherish the small town atmosphere that Tracy offers, from its wonderful schools and dedicated police, fire and ambulance services, to its aquatic center, parks, hospital and churches that bring families together. I value a close-knit community where neighbors look out for one another and families can feel safe and connected.

Why am I running for City Council?

As a city council candidate, I believe it is important to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars by maintaining the buildings, infrastructure, and streets we already have while working to keep our city levy as low as reasonably possible. Responsible budgeting means planning ahead, prioritizing necessary repairs and improvements, and making thoughtful financial decisions that benefit our entire community. My goal is to help keep Tracy a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming place to live while being mindful of the financial burden on our residents and families.

What are the major issues facing the city?

I believe Tracy’s major challenges and opportunities lie in growing our local economy while preserving what makes our community special. We need to attract new businesses while supporting our existing businesses so they can thrive and grow. Addressing housing needs while maintaining community standards, completing our zoning ordinance updates, and continuing to improve traffic flow and infrastructure are also important priorities. We must also invest in maintaining and updating community spaces like City Hall and the Veterans Memorial Center. My goal is to support responsible growth, maintain the quality of life in Tracy, and build a strong foundation for our community’s future.
