MARSHALL -- Learning about fire safety meant some hands-on fun for community members attending the Marshall Fire Department’s annual open house on Thursday. The open house gave families a chance to enjoy a meal, get up close to fire trucks, and learn more about the tools firefighters use.
Some of the demonstrations at the open house included opportunities for kids to try using a fire hose to knock down “flame” targets. They could also go through a simulation trailer to learn about evacuating a smoky room, or learn about the Emergency Response Team’s tools. Emergency Response Team members demonstrated how pulleys made it easier to lift a person during a rescue.
