Figueroa hired as Lyon Co. jail admin

By Deb Gau 1 min read

MARSHALL -- Lyon County commissioners approved the hiring of a new county jail administrator this week. Gabriel Figueroa was approved as the permanent jail administrator after serving as an interim administrator.

Lyon County Human Resources Director Aurora Heard said the county advertised and interviewed for the jail administrator position after former jail administrator Brad Marks retired in August. Figueroa was being recommended for the job.

Figueroa's annual salary would be $100,000, Heard said.

Commissioners voted to approve the hire, effective Aug. 21.

Figueroa has served as interim jail administrator since Aug. 21, after Marks retired. Before then, Figueroa served as the administrative sergeant at the jail. He has worked for the county since 2008. Figueroa was first hired as a corrections officer around the time that Lyon County opened its current county jail facilities. In 2009, Figueroa was promoted to a sergeant position.
