LINCOLN COUNTY -- A Tyler man was charged this week with possessing and distributing child pornography, Lincoln County District Court records said.
Court records said Niel Jeffery Jensen, 56, appeared at a hearing Thursday on 12 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of distribution of child pornography charges.
A criminal complaint alleges that, on Aug. 18, the Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force received a tip from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, saying that Jensen had shared a pornographic image of a juvenile through Instagram chat on his cell phone. The complaint said a search warrant was executed at Jensen's home on Sept. 1. A search of Jensen's cell phone found 12 videos with child sexual abuse material that had been downloaded through the messaging app Telegram, the complaint alleged.
Jensen appeared via Zoom in Lincoln County District Court on Thursday, court records said. Bail for Jensen was set at $50,000 without conditions, or $35,000 cash or bond with conditions including that Jensen obey laws, stay in Minnesota, and not have unsupervised contact with minors.
A future hearing date was set for Sept. 17.
