MARSHALL -- A downtown Marshall business appears to have closed its doors recently. Marshal Cleaning Services, a dry cleaning, laundry and cleaning services business on Main Street, was closed this week. An undated note posted on the front door said the business was closing.
Documents filed in Lyon County District Court this summer said the business and its owner had defaulted on a U.S. Small Business Administration loan. On Aug. 19, the court granted a motion for default.
A phone message the Independent left for the business this week was not returned.
According to Lyon County District Court documents, a civil complaint was filed against Marshal Cleaning Services LLC and business owner Yia Xiong in July. In the complaint, lender Sunrise Banks, National Association, claimed the business defaulted on a 2023 U.S. Small Business Administration loan. The complaint claimed that as of May 18, Marshal Cleaning Services owed a total of about $241,000 on the loan, including outstanding principal, unpaid interest and fees.
The complaint asked for a judgment to be rendered against Marshal Cleaning Services for the amount due on the loan, the possession of collateral like equipment, inventory and investment property, and Sunrise Banks' costs of collection and attorney's fees.
Documents filed in Lyon County District Court on July 31 said Marshal Cleaning Services and Xiong were in default because they had not responded to the civil complaint more than 21 days after being served.
Court documents said that, at an Aug. 19 hearing, a Lyon County District Court Judge granted a motion for default.
