MARSHALL -- A man pursued by law enforcement in Lyon County on Friday morning was later arrested in New Ulm.
Chase David Frieze was apprehended around 9 p.m. Friday, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office said.
Around 11 a.m. Friday, a Lyon County deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop for a 2021 Jeep Gladiator suspected to be driven by Frieze on Minnesota Highway 23, the Sheriff's Office said. There was a Meeker County warrant out for Frieze's arrest.
Instead of stopping, the Jeep accelerated and fled from the deputy, the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies pursued the vehicle for about 27 miles before stopping the chase out of safety concerns, the Sheriff's Office said.
Later in the day the Redwood County Sheriff's Office found the Jeep, which stopped near Seaforth, at the intersection of Redwood County Road 30 and County Road 7. The Redwood County Sheriff's Office said they established a perimeter around the vehicle, and the Brown Lyon Redwood Renville Emergency Response Unit was called in.
Before the ERU arrived at the scene, one female occupant got out of the vehicle and was detained, the Redwood County Sheriff's Office said. Law enforcement conducted a ground and air search, but did not find anyone else at that location.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said it was determined that the female occupant of the Jeep was not driving at the time of the chase.
Frieze was later arrested in New Ulm, shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office said. The case remains under investigation.
