Tafoya, Demuth do well among Lyon Co. Republicans

Flanagan, Osberg , Klobuchar top DFL ticket

MARSHALL -- Local results from Tuesday’s primary elections didn’t diverge much from statewide results, according to unofficial vote totals reported by the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office.

In primaries for Congressional races, Minnesota governor and other state elected offices, Lyon County voters showed support for Republican candidates Michele Tafoya and Lisa Demuth, and Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidates Peggy Flanagan, Erik Osberg and Amy Klobuchar.

In the U.S. Senate primary, Republican candidate Michele Tafoya was in the lead statewide, with 52% of the vote, the Secretary of State’s Office reported. Tafoya received a total of 1,092 votes in Lyon County. The next highest result among Republican Senate candidates was Adam Schwarze, with 539 votes.

Among DFL Senate candidates, Peggy Flanagan received about 59% of the statewide vote. In Lyon County, Flanagan received 714 votes, followed by Angie Craig with 639 votes, the Secretary of State’s Office reported.

In the Congressional District 7 primary, two DFL candidates were challenging U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach. DFL candidate Erik Osberg received over 65% of primary votes across the district, the Secretary of State’s Office said. In Lyon County, Osberg received 837 votes, followed by Steve Carlson with 508 votes.

In the primary for Minnesota governor and lieutenant governor, Republican candidates Lisa Demuth and Ryan Wilson had the lead statewide, with about 43% of the vote. In Lyon County, Demuth and Wilson received, 1,066 votes. The next highest vote total was for Mike Lindell and Phillip C. Parrish, at 752 votes. On the DFL side, candidates Amy Klobuchar and Ben Schierer received more than 89% of the vote statewide, the Secretary of State’s Office said. In Lyon County, Klobuchar and Schierer received 1,301 votes.

There were two Republican candidates in the Minnesota Secretary of State primary, running against Secretary of State Steve Simon. Statewide, Republican candidate Tad Jude received about 60% of the vote, the Secretary of State’s Office reported. In Lyon County, Jude received 1,120 votes, while candidate Wendy Phillips received 1,083 votes.

There were three Republican candidates in the primary for Minnesota State Auditor, and one DFL candidate, Zack Filipovich. Among the Republican candidates, Scott Jensen received over 66% of the vote statewide, the Secretary of State’s Office said. In Lyon County, Jensen received 1,609 votes.

In the Minnesota Attorney General primary, Republican candidate Ronald J. Schutz and DFL candidate David J.S. Madgett were challenging Attorney General Keith Ellison. Ellison received the majority of the DFL votes cast in the primary, with over 84% of the vote, the Secretary of State’s Office said. In Lyon county, Ellison received a total of 1,134 votes.
