MARSHALL -- There was a busy weekend of events at the Lyon County Fair, from community programs to demolition derby action. Saturday morning, the fair kicked off with a recognition ceremony honoring area residents like veterans and this year’s Outstanding Senior Citizen Award recipients. Ray Thull opened up the program by singing “God Bless America” at the fairgrounds hoop barn. Later on in the program, a trio of Tracy community members, including Joel Buyck, were honored as Outstanding Senior Citizens.
On Saturday afternoon, area residents came to the grandstand to watch the fair’s annual demolition derby. The event included fun activities, like a Power Wheels derby for kids. Sunday brought a chance to get muddy at the ATV/UTV obstacle course in the fairgrounds arena.
