MARSHALL -- A Lynd man is facing charges of illegally possessing firearms and financial transaction card fraud in Lyon County District Court. Court documents said future hearings in both criminal cases are scheduled for Caleb Michael Ose, 40.
Ose is charged with two counts of possessing firearms or ammunition after being convicted or adjudicated for a crime of violence, court documents said.
A criminal complaint filed July 20 in Lyon County District Court alleges that law enforcement found ammunition and firearms like a break-action shotgun, black powder rifles and a black powder pistol during a search at Ose's home in Lynd. Law enforcement were at the residence to look for evidence of a financial transaction card crime, the complaint said.
The complaint alleged that Ose told officers what firearms he possessed, and where the guns and ammunition were.
Ose had prior convictions for felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime in Redwood County, the complaint said.
At a July 20 hearing, bail for Ose was set at $65,000 without conditions, or $15,000 bond or $1,500 cash with conditions including that Ose appear in court, be law-abiding and stay in Minnesota. A future hearing date was set for Aug. 4, court records said.
In a separate case, Ose is also facing charges of financial transaction card fraud in Lyon County. A criminal complaint filed July 13 alleges that Ose stole a credit card from a vehicle parked near East Twin Lake, and used it to purchase about $91 worth of fuel at a Marshall gas station.
A hearing in the credit card theft case is scheduled for Sept. 8, court records said.
