MARSHALL — The Lyon County Environmental Department is asking some Marshall residents to start making sure they put out their recycling the night before pickup is scheduled.

Starting July 20, curbside recycling collection on Mondays will be done earlier in the morning, said environmental technician Stephanie Bethke-DeJaeghere.

“Due to a shortage of recycling drivers, they are going to be starting (pickup) at 3 a.m.,” she said. Monday recycling customers in Marshall will need to put their carts out the night before pickup. The new schedule will be in place until further notice, Bethke-DeJaeghere said.

Previously, the Monday recycling pickup didn’t start until 6 a.m. Bethke-DeJaeghere said the change will affect about 2,300 recycling customers in the city of Marshall.
