CANBY -- Fourth grader Lydia Webb had a few jokes to tell during the Yellow Medicine County Fair on Saturday. She walked onto the stage and grabbed the mic and proceeded to entertain the audience of fellow 4-H’ers and parents inside the fair pavilion

"A rooster is standing on top of a barn. If it lays an egg, which way would it roll?" she asked the audience. Several children raised their hands and yelled out answers.

Each time Webb said "No."

"Roosters don't lay eggs," Webb said.

Webb's comic routine was just one of the several performances during the 4-H Fashion Show held during the fair.

Ruthie Anderson of Wood Lake sat at the piano and played "How I Love Jesus."

After three years of piano, she said did "good" during her performance.

After all the performances it was time for the main event -- the fashion show.

"So we have one Cloverbud, and we will begin with her," Sarah Berg, with the Yellow Medicine County 4-H, announced as the show started.

"So here comes Cora. She's feeling very awesome in her checkerboard outfit she sewed herself. The stretchy fabric is super soft and comfortable, making it the perfect outfit for any day of the week. She is a member of the Willing Workers 4-H Club and has been in sewing project for two years with a few simple accessories. This outfit is complete, and she is ready to play the day away. Great job, Cora."

Berg continued with Lydia Webb of Marshall.

"And now we’re going to move on to our junior category, which is grades three through five. So we’ll start off with Lydia. Lydia worked with her grandma Lisa Peterson to complete her first sewing project. Lydia loved spending time with her grandma during this project, as well as the process of picking out the fabric and pattern for this dress. She learned to hand sew too. This is Lydia’s fourth year in the purchase clothing project and her very first year doing constructed clothing,” Berg said.
