One killed in pursuit, crash near Belview
BELVIEW — A Redwood Falls man was killed in a crash as he was being pursued by law enforcement Saturday near Belview, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office said.
Francis Albert Rohlik, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle left the roadway and rolled near the intersection of County Road 7 and 400th Street near Belview, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.
Around 7:19 p.m. Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop Rohlik’s vehicle on County Road 7 for traffic violations, the news release said. The Sheriff’s Office said Rohlik accelerated away from deputies, and a pursuit ensued. After about three miles, Rohlik lost control, and the vehicle rolled. The Sheriff’s Office said Rohlik was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Deputies administered medical aid to Rohlik, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The State Patrol, Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Belview Fire and Belview First Responders, the Minnesota DNR, CentraCare Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care all responded at the crash scene.
