‘We wanted it to be all-inclusive’
Made in Minnesota Festival adds spirits, ciders to beverage samples
MARSHALL — There’s a lot brewing in Minnesota – from craft beer to wines, ciders and spirits. This weekend, organizers of the Made in Minnesota Festival will be opening up the event to a wider variety of locally-made beverages.
“We wanted it to be all-inclusive,” said Adri DeBoer, Red Baron Arena and Expo senior sales director.
The Made in Minnesota Craft Beer and Wine Festival is Saturday at the Red Baron Arena and Expo. DeBoer said around 40 different vendor booths will showcase products made in Minnesota.
“It is a lot more than in years past,” she said.
DeBoer said part of the reason for the growth is that this year, visitors will be able to sample spirits from Minnesota distilleries, in addition to beers and wines. Ciders from Minnesota producers will also be available for sampling, she said. “We just decided that we wanted to include those also this year.”
DeBoer said festival attendees will receive First Independent Bank tasting glasses, and be able to try products from vendor booths at the festival. Another festival feature returning this year is a shuttle service operated by Minnesota Reds, Whites and Brews. At a cost of $5 per ride, the shuttle will pick up and drop off festival attendees from locations like downtown restaurants and Marshall hotels.
Yard games, food trucks and live music from southwest Minnesota folk rock band The Broken Oak will all add to the fun and festival atmosphere. DeBoer said the festival has continued to draw people from across a wide area to visit Marshall, which is also a positive for local businesses like restaurants and hotels.
So far, attendees from South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota have all purchased tickets, she said.
The Made in Minnesota Festival will be from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the Red Baron Arena and Expo. Information ticket sales is available at visitmarshallmn.com. Early ticket purchases are encouraged, because there are only 400 tickets available. The event is open only to attendees ages 21 and over.
